Serving a Thanksgiving meal with Boyle Street
Oct. 11, 2026 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Thank you to the members who have signed up. There are still volunteer spots available!

A new venue has been found...it will be at the  Alberta Aviation Museum in the hanger.

Date: Sunday October 11
Time: Set up is at 9:00 am, Meal service is at 11:30 am

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and once again our club has the opportunity to give back to our community by serving Thanksgiving dinner to clients of Boyle Street Community Services.

For many years, our Rotary Club has partnered with Boyle Street for their Thanksgiving meal. It’s become one of our favourite hands-on volunteer opportunities — and for good reason!

We help serve a warm Thanksgiving dinner to people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional holiday meal. But it’s about much more than the food. It’s about showing kindness, offering a friendly smile, and making people feel welcome and valued. A simple meal shared with others can make a real difference.

We’ll be helping with serving the meal, welcoming guests, and whatever else is needed to make the afternoon run smoothly.

If you’re able to join us, please sign up below. It’s a wonderful way to put Service Above Self into action and continue a tradition that our club has proudly supported for many years.

Cheers,

Anne

Rucksack March for Remembrance
Oct. 24, 2026 9:00 a.m.

Each year, our club proudly donates $3,000 to Wounded Warriors Canada in support of its Warrior Kids Camp program.

Warrior Kids Camp provides a safe, supportive, and fun environment for children whose families have been affected by the operational stress injuries of a parent who serves or has served in the Canadian Armed Forces, as a Veteran, or as a First Responder. Through outdoor activities, team-building experiences, and age-appropriate mental health programming, children develop resilience, build confidence, and connect with others who understand their unique experiences.

Our annual contribution helps ensure that these children can attend camp, create lasting friendships, and gain the skills and support they need to thrive.

Rucksack March for Remembrance

Every day, dedicated soldiers, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and their loved ones carry the weight of trauma and sacrifice. Too many lives are lost to operational stress injuries, illness, and suicide. This event exists to stand beside those who continue to fight these battles long after their service ends.

Led by Veterans, Active Duty military members, and First Responders, the Rucksack March for Remembrance creates a strong and supportive community built on connection, resilience, and remembrance. Together, we march to honour service, support healing, and remind those struggling that they are never alone.

Volt Hockey Tournament
Nov. 14, 2026 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The Volt Hockey Tournament is an exciting adaptive hockey event that gives children and adults with physical disabilities the opportunity to experience the thrill, teamwork and competition of hockey. Players use specially designed electric hockey chairs, allowing them to move around the rink and participate in the game independently.

The tournament is about much more than hockey—it celebrates inclusion, friendship, confidence and community. Families, volunteers and supporters come together to cheer on the players and create an atmosphere where everyone can be part of the game. It is a wonderful example of how adaptive sports can break down barriers and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to play, compete and belong.

There will be several volunteer opportunities throughout the tournament, including registration, setup, takedown, timekeeping, scoring, the awards ceremony, and other event support. There is a role for everyone!

And, of course, you don’t have to volunteer to be part of the fun—you are welcome to come out, watch the games and cheer on the players. Let’s show our support and help make this a memorable event for everyone involved!

Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign
Dec. 12, 2026 10:00 a.m.

🎄 It’s become a wonderful Rotary tradition! 🎄

For many years, our club has supported the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign, and once again we have the opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer while helping a great cause.

This year, we will be covering all the kettle shifts at the West End Costco. 🔔

The funds raised through the Christmas Kettle Campaign help the Salvation Army support individuals and families in our community who are struggling, providing assistance such as food, clothing, emergency shelter, housing support, and help with basic needs throughout the year. Every donation, large or small, helps make a difference.

🎅 When: Saturday, December 12, 2026
📍 Where: West End Costco, 7259 Winterburn Road
⏰ Shift times: To be determined

So, put on your Santa hat 🎅, bring your Christmas spirit, and come ring the bells 🔔, greet shoppers, and collect donations for this important community cause.

It’s always a fun way to spend time with fellow Rotarians—and a great opportunity to share a little kindness and Christmas cheer! ❤️

Please let me know if you can volunteer for a shift. The more Rotarians we have, the merrier!

Let’s make this another successful year for the Salvation Army and help bring a little extra warmth and hope to our community this Christmas. 🎄❤️

Thank you everyone!

Annie

Volunteering at the Food Bank
Dec. 16, 2026 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

It’s that time of year again! 🎄❤️

We’re excited to invite you to join us for our annual Christmas volunteer evening at the Edmonton Food Bank.

The holiday season is a particularly busy time for the Food Bank, with increased demand from individuals and families in our community. Your time and energy can make a real difference as we work together to help ensure that food reaches those who need it most.

Beyond the work itself, these evenings are a wonderful opportunity to come together, build partnerships, and strengthen our connections within the community. There’s something special about rolling up our sleeves, working side-by-side, and knowing that our collective effort is helping others during the holiday season.

As has become our tradition over the past few years, we’ll once again be joined by staff from the MacEwan University Health Centre. It’s a great opportunity to connect outside of our usual workplaces and continue building this wonderful partnership.

📅 Wednesday, December 16
⏰ 5:00 PM
📍 Edmonton Food Bank

We’d love to have you join us! Bring your Christmas spirit, your willingness to help, and maybe a little festive energy. 🎅🎁❤️

Please let me know if you can volunteer.

Thank you for continuing to support our community and for making this annual tradition so meaningful!

Cheers,
Annie
