I have changed the date of the Highway Clean Up to Sunday June 1 as we had a conflict with the District Conference. Please sign up if you haven't already. We need all hands on deck!! Hopefully Spring will be here by this date. I'm sure there is a fair amount of garbage that needs to be picked up. We want our 3 km stretch of highway to be the cleanest!!! Date: Sunday May 25 We always need all hands on deck. So please bring your family along:)) Cheers, Annie |

Terra Centre
Jun. 09, 2025 12:00 p.m.
Terra Centre is a non-profit organization helping pregnant and parenting teens develop the self-reliance and skills to be successful parents. Braede Harris, the Centre's Manager of Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations, will address the Club on June 9th to tell us more about Terra and what Rotary can do to support its vital community mission. See: https://terracentre.ca/ for more information. Back in the early 1970’s, society rules did not permit teen mothers to continue high school once they were seen to be pregnant. And further to not completing high school, many teen mothers were pressured to surrender their child, supposedly in effort to give them a better future. In 1971, a group of determined young moms challenged that judgment banding together with the goal of earning their high school diploma and keeping their children. That group of young women were supported by other community women and social workers and did exactly what they set out to achieve. This small team of trailblazers founded what we know today as Terra Centre for Teen Parents. |

The Root for Trees program helps to expand Edmonton’s urban forest by planting trees for Edmontonians by Edmontonians.
Our club is registered for a Group Planting Program with Root for Trees on June 21st from 10 to 12 pm.
Location: Rapperswill - North of 12410 - 167 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6V 1B1
Parking: Residential street parking along Rapperswill Drive NW and 123 St NW Registered planting programs allow for a maximum group size of 60 people so bring a friend, or better still your kids and grandkids...they will love it!!
We plant outdoors, so please dress for the weather! Working in a natural area, it is possible that you may encounter thistles, sticks, or garbage. Consider dressing in layers, long pants, and wearing a hat. You and your volunteers must wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, such as runners. Volunteers may not participate in planting activities if they wear inappropriate footwear, such as sandals, flip-flops, or high heel shoes.
Remember to bring a water bottle and snacks, as planting trees can be a very physical activity! We suggest you bring sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else that will make your planting program an enjoyable experience. Root for Trees will supply the shovels, gloves, and plants.
Cheers,
Annie

Our club has been a long time supporter of this important fundraiser for the Edmonton Food Bank. Volunteers will be positioned outside the Commonwealth Stadium and collect monetary and food donations. We have always found this to be a fun event and appreciate the generocity of the fans. Purolator Tackle Hunger Date: Sunday, July 6th - Elks vs Ottawa Redblacks Volunteer Arrival: for 2:45 PM TBC They are looking for approximately 20 volunteers. The volunteers would be split between two gates. The bulk of the volunteers will be at Gate 13. (they welcome children to be part of the volunteer team). Who can resist a childs smile:)) Once the volunteer activity is complete, they usually provide all volunteers with a pass into the game to watch football. They will update you as soon as they get confirmation from the Elks regarding passes into the game for Purolator Tackle Hunger Volunteers. Volunteers would need to find their own method of travel down to the game. Edmonton's Food Bank is not provided with any parking spots for volunteers on game day. We recommend using the LRT or car-pooling. Cheers, Annie |

Preparing a meal can be a stressful task after spending a long and potentially emotional day at the hospital. Thanks to generous volunteers, the House can reduce this stress for families. Through Home for Dinner, a group of volunteers purchases groceries and provides dinner for families staying at the House. Duties include planning, cooking, cleaning up, and packaging any leftovers. We are looking forward to preparing and serving our next meal for the families. Date: September 6 Cheers, Annie
