Labour day, no meeting (September 7, 2020)

 

event: food bank shift (tuesday, September 8)

On Tuesday, September 8 at 6 pm, five of our club members volunteered their evening to help out at our local Edmonton Food Bank. They need the extra hands now more than ever.
 
Thank you to everyone who signed up and came out to lend a helping hand!
 

guest speakers, david finch & Jason Ribeiro (September 14 meeting)

On Monday, September 14 at noon, we welcomed David Finch and Jason Ribeiro for a presentation and discussion on Calgary's Learning City Initiative.

guest speaker, len thuesen (September 21 meeting)

On Monday, September 21 at noon, we hosted local Edmonton radio celebrity Len Thuesen, who introduced us to "Radio in the Golden Age."

SEPTEMBER 28 MEETING, NO GUEST SPEAKER

On Monday, September 28 at noon, our meeting consisted of a general overview and brief presentations from each of our club's Committee Chairs in place of a guest speaker.

event: Highway cleanup (saturday, September 26)

On Saturday, September 26 at 10 am, many of our club members came out to help care for and pick up rubbish on our section of Highway 16.
 
A great big thank you to everyone from our club and the MacEwan Rotaract Club who came out to help, and a special thank you to Annie for coordinating this event!

HOW CAN WE HELP from home?

This is a very difficult time for so many people around the world, but there are still many ways we can help from the safety of our homes. This is one of them:
 
Believe in Belize is a non-profit run completely by volunteers locally in Belize. They have recently put out a request for individual donations to aid in the COVID-19 medical efforts in Belize and they have committed to 100% of the donations received from April - August 2020 going to support Belizeans dealing with the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic.
