Update from Jon
This just in from Jon McDonell in Thailand as of Thursday, March 13th:
"Sorry about not being able to keep in contact so much - but my internet at home has stopped working - and my next host does not have computer access, so I can only send e-mails when I get the chance to go to internet cafes.
Everything is amazing here. I'm settled in - adapted. It's strange that I find nothing strange anymore. District Conference is this coming weekend and a German Exchange Student and I will both read speeches, because we won the Thai language competition last month. Then from March 22 to 28, I will have a bus trip to the south, and then April 8 to 16 I have a bus trip to the north. I'm really looking forward to these trips - just wish they were longer.
School has been over for the last month, and will remain closed until May. It's the equivalent of summer vacation here now. I'm not seeing friends from school as often as I'd like (they have summer school), but I have a few friends outside of school who I am able to spend time with.
How is Boom doing? I switch hosts on March 28th, so I will spend my last three months with a new family. They have a son and a daughter both younger than me. I'm hoping everything runs smoothly!
Thai language is coming along great - I'm halfway through my first Thai novel.
Thanks, and hello to all",
Jon McDonell
