The next Grandview Care Centre concert will be on June 4th with Jerome Martin providing a Duke Ellington theme.  And the June 3rd Evening concert has had a date change and will now be held on the evening of June 17.

President Elect Ingrid Neitsch is currently winging her way to the international conference in Sydney Australia and we are sure that she will returned energized with lots of great ideas for the upcoming year.

The incoming board of directors will be having an inaugural meeting on Wednesday, June 11 at the Petroleum Club and both the incoming and current boards will have a joint meeting on the following Wednesday, June 18th.  Also at the "Pete".  Check the upcoming events on the web page for more details.

The President's Changeover dinner will be held on the evening of June 26.  This dinner will take the place of the regular Monday meeting seeing as many people may be away on the 30th due to the Canada Day holiday.

Spencer Mueller: Announced that as the incoming Social events coordinator, there will be lots of new events on the horizon, but the next one on the agenda is the Club Golf tournament that will be held on August 11, starting @ 1pm at the Victoria Golf Club.  This tournament will stand as our regular club meeting for that week.  And if anyone has any connections to some affordable rental property around the NAIT campus, please contact Spencer as he has a family friend who is looking for accomodation for the next school year.

50/50 Draw:  With only two cards left in the deck, we were assured of a winner this week and the lucky winners to share the pot of $387 were Dan Graham and David Gibbens.

Table Stories: As charged by President Duane at the start of the meeting, all tables were to find something about another person at the table that they didn't know before and all tables were asked to bring forward this information.

Doug Sollows explained how the conversation at his table wound around a food theme with Darrel Ripley joining a community garden in his neighbourhood, and David Gibbens working in the west end setting up a community garden and yard sharing group.  This then tied into how Doug had learned from a colleague at a conference over the weekend how community and urban garden is providing financial options for many in Cuba as they cope with lack of commodities and fuel.

Jerome Martin learned that a young Chris Gowers delivered groceries by bicycle to several villages in England.  Chris responded that he learned that Jerome had been chosen to go to Kenya as a young man and shared several of his adventures while there.

Bert Andrews learned of the geography, social system and history of the Ukraine from Zen Moisey as his family emigrated from there.  Of note was the complexity of the system of barter that seemd to be a backbone of the economy.

Zen Moisey learned that Frank Boodram's wife had just received some experimental ozone injections in her knee.  We all wish her the best with the treatments.

Steve McEachern reminded us all of the history that is about to occur with the upcoming Stanley Cup finals.  Two hometown boys from Viking, Alberta (Darryl Sutter and Glenn Sather) will be battling for supremacy in the hockey world.  President Duane shared that he grew up in the area as well, playing hockey with Darryl and that his dad taught Glen Sather in school - He also tried to explain that Dwayne Sutter was named after him.

Fines / Happy Bucks:  Finemaster: Joe Lizotte was surprised that none of the table stories even mentioned an important upcoming anniversary.  That being the 70th anniversary of D-day that was occuring this week.  He then fined many around the tables on their knowledge (or lack thereof) of D-Day facts.

President Duane adjourned the meeting.
