Attendance/Guests: 29 including Duane Treacy, guest of Rob Kimmerly; Carol Devereau, Rotary Club of Fort Edmonton; Erin Sobal, outgoing president Edmonton Centennial Interact Club of Ross Shepperd High School; Erin Yurch, incoming president of the above mentioned Interact club.

Change Over Meeting: President Sherry advised no lunch meeting on June 25; evening change over of the board of directors to occur @ Edmonton Petroleum Club; 6:00 for cocktails; 6:30 dinner and meeting; bring guests; about $40 per plate; cash bar for cocktails

Fort Edmonton Windsor Block Reconstruction Project: John reported on a meeting recently held where our Rotary Club's seed money donation of $10,000 was presented; another $90,000 has been raised including $30,000 from Zen Moisey who challenged our club to match - $15,000 raised so far. The Windsor Block is to be finished by 2016 to enable the opening to celebrate the 100 years of Rotary in Alberta as well as the successful reconstruction. A powerful video was shown in the Capital Theatre to demonstrate to those that do not understand that Rotary has been involved with Fort Edmonton at the the present site since the beginning. The project is budgeted at $5 million but half is matching grant government money.
Interact: Erin Sobal was introduced by Ron - Erin thanked our club for support - they raised $14,000 from banquet/silent auction and $6,000 from other fundraisers - 12 members went to work on 2 schools in Belise.
Finemaster: John fined Darryll White and Dave for undisclosed indiscretions; Zen for being in the above mentioned Fort Edmonton video in too many scenes; anyone interested in World Cup Soccer;
Happy Bucks: Edmonton Yacht Club gave Jim Spalding a birthday party
Guest Speakers: Jerome introduced Rob Dunseith and Chris as the 2 members of our club to attend Rotary International Convention in Bangkok, Thailand. Video presentation of pictures taken was interesting. 100 Rotarians plus spouses attended from District 5370 - well done. May 6 - 9 saw 35,000 delegates attend the functions. People from all areas of the world, 6 new countries admitted to membership. Many Buddhas dotted the landscape; transport that got you somewhere in a timely manner was sky train, river boats, motorcycles; William B. Boyd (chair of Trustees of Rotary Foundation) and Kalyan Banerjee (President of Rotary International) gave many powerful presentations on many subjects of interest/concern to Rotarians; incoming Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka of Japan presented his directing slogan for the year PEACE THROUGH SERVICE. As we can see the good in everyone not withstanding our many differecnes; we are all the same in Rotary - non religious and non political.
The temperature was near fourty degrees Centrigrade with 80 percent humidity. One of the main topics was PolioPlus and they announced that India is now polio free [a great victory]; medals were given to the attendees to celebrate Rotary International meeting the Bill Gates Foundation Challenge to raise $200 million in the last 2 years. World Health Organization had issued a polio emergency message aimed at keeping the focus on eradicating polio . Amanda Martin talked about her experiences as a Rotary Peace Fellow, especially working to reduce personal health and personal abuse problems in the far east. Other subjects were water projects, health projects, and the main meeting place was the Rotary House of Friendship. Rob met with the incoming president of Battamburg, Cambodia club to discuss financial support of their literary project needs. Harry Buddle (District 5370 outgoing governor) and Kevin Hilgers (District 5370 incoming governor) were a force for the district attendees.
