Rotary District Employment Partnership Program
With the new season of fall upon us the Partnership has a renewed energy and momentum. One part time job has been generated this month and several jobs are in development. This is gives great hope for a bountiful fall harvest of jobs for our many potential employees.
On September 22, 2010 Kent was hired at Future Shop in Terra Losa Center. He will be working as a sales associate in the entertainment department. His Passion for gaming and electronics has contributed to his obtaining his "dream job Although Kent did the job search himself I was able to support him through the interview process and assist the Future Shop management in figuring out the best way to help Kent be successful in his job. Congratulations to Kent and to Future Shop.
Many other Rotarians are making an invaluable difference by helping people with developmental disabilities "get their foot in the door" of business and industry - to have a chance for real jobs. In turn many Rotarians are learning about the contribution people with developmental disabilities can make from improving the bottom line to increasing customer satisfaction. Many people with developmental disabilities look to the District 5370 Rotary Employment Partnership for employment. Please explore the possibilities of hiring an employee with developmental disabilities. Here are just a few:
Brodie
Brodie is a young man with initiative and motivation. He is currently attending Concordia University College in the Bachelor of Arts Program. He has completed courses in Introductory Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and business. When he is not in classes or studying Brodie can be found on the basketball court helping coach the Concordia Thunder Men's Basketball team to a silver place finish in the 2008/2009 season. Brodie is seeking part time employment in an office environment. His coaching obligations take up his weekends however Brodie is available Mondays through Thursday.
Cassie
Cassie is a young woman who just completed her second year of studies at Norquest College. She is looking for part time employment. She is just entering the world of work and is open to exploring new possibilities. Areas of work Cassie has considered are retail, clerical, data entry or the music industry. Although Cassie does not have experience she is enthusiastic and eager to work. Cassie is looking for part time employment one or two days a week.
Denver
Denver is a young man whose dream is to attend the Culinary Arts Program at NAIT and become a chef. He has recently finished high school and is eager to gain experience in a commercial kitchen. Denver completed the commercial foods program in his high school where he gained an abundance of experience that included
food safety and sanitation skills, knife safety skills, Banquet preparation and many more relevant skills.
Denver's experience also includes working as a cook's assistant at a senior's
residence. He is available part time hours.
Chelsea
Chelsea is looking for part time employment to supplement her income while completing her studies at Norquest College. Chelsea enjoys work that allows for flexibility and change. She has experience working with seniors in an assisted living facility and caring for children in a day home.
