Hands-On Project at Capital Care Grandview
The landscaping adjacent to the Rotary House of Friendship at Grandview is in need of some care and attention. The fill adjacent to the wall of the building has settled over time, and there is no longer positive drainage away from the addition we had built. In order to correct this, the bark mulch has to be raked away from the wall, some fill should be placed and compacted, and then the bark mulch can be raked back into position.
Also, no one has pruned the shrubs since last summer, so many of them are in dire need of pruning. The block wall adjacent to the concrete sidewalk has settled and is no longer level, so it too needs to have the blocks set aside, new sand added and levelled as a base, and then the blocks put back in proper position.
Brian Thompson will be working on this landscaping on Saturday morning, starting about 10 am. He will bring a small truck load of dirt for correcting the grading adjacent to the wall of the building along with a wheel barrow, a rake and a shovel. The truck can also be used to obtain sand for the levelling of the blocks.
If you would like to help, put on your gardening clothes, bring your work gloves, pruning shears, perhaps a container to collect trimmed branches and join Brian on Saturday August 24th at Grandview. Hope to see you there.
