Our club has been in communication with MacEwan University to collaborate on installing a Peace Pole on their campus. We are excited to report that this has been accomplished and the Peace Pole was ordered and has now arrived. You are invited to take part in this special event.
Peace Poles were created in 1955 in Japan by Masahisa Goi, a teacher, poet and philosopher, in the wake of the destruction in the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the Second World War.
Following the devastation of World War II, Mr. Goi cried out for a way to bring peace to all people and the words, ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth,’ came to him in a moment of great inspiration. Mr. Goi believed words and thoughts are alive with energy and have the power to bring peace and harmony to personal lives and the planet.
He believed that war begins with thoughts of war, peace begins with thoughts of peace, and it is from this concept that the peaceful project was implemented to uplift people towards harmony rather than conflict. The Peace Pole reminds us to keep peace ever present in our thoughts today.
The Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony will commemorate this special occasion and bring the community together to inspire, awaken and uplift the human consciousness the world over.
