Guest Speaker / Classification Talk: Leslie Cleary

Leslie was born and raised in Saskatchewan and moved to Edmonton for work once she graduated.  Saskatchewan will always be "Home", but Edmonton is definitely her own family's home.  Leslie has one son who is convocating from NAIT this year and Leslie is so very proud of her boy.

Leslie was an Edmonton Public School Board Trustee, being elected in 2010, where she represented 27 public schools in the Millwoods area.  Public service seems to run in her family because when she was elected, she was told by her grandmother that she was so proud of her as the grandmother had run to be a trustee back in the 50's and almost won the seat (running against a man!) So times have changed and it was a proud moment in the family.

Volunteering has always been a major part on Leslie's life.  Her current volunteer activites include: Pet Therapy, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, her church council, her church folk group and most recently, the Edmonton Triathalon.

Joining Rotary therefore was a natural fit, with Mike Ryan being her sponsor and that she very much feels that she is "in the right place".

Her current vocation is working at Cleanscene as the "Fund Development Director". She received her University degree in 2010 with hopes of working more in the area of Charity fundraising and is now a member of the Edmonton Chapter of Fundraising Professionals.

Her current Role with the club is the Director of Youth Services which she feels is going to be a great fit as well.

Leslie was thanked by Duane Evans.

The meeting was adjourned by Darrel .
