Amongst the over 400 homes that were completely destroyed by the wildfires which forced the evacuation of the entire town on May 15, 2011, four Rotarians lost their homes.  This includes the Club President, President-Elect and 2 Club Directors.  In addition, the fires damaged another 300 homes in the community (several owned by Rotarians) as well as a number of other town buildings.

The Rotary Club of Slave Lake has now met and is in the process of assessing the needs in their community.  The Club will be developing their plan to provide assistance where deemed necessary (eg. Re-build the Slave Lake Rotary Library, the Rotary Playground).  In the meantime, a special Disaster and Relief  Fund has been established by the Slave Lake Rotary Club.

Donations would be most appreciated.  Cheques may be made payable to the Rotary Club of Slave Lake (specify Disaster and Relief Fund).  Charitable receipts will be issued as required.  Forward cheques to:
