Fund Raising Success Story
For each of the past nine summers, generally on the last Thursday in July, we have been hosting a golf tournament. We are proud to announce that these tournaments have raised over a quarter of a million dollars for use by our Club to fund various community and international projects.
In the years 2002, 2003 and 2004, the tournament was held at the Edmonton Petroleum Club Golf Course. We then moved to the Northern Bear for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 tournaments. In 2008, it was held at Blackhawk, and in 2009 and 2010 we held the tournament at Cougar Creek.
Our 2010 tournament cleared $36,700 bringing the 9-year total to $255,451 in net earnings. Since inception, the tournament committee has been chaired by John Blimke with support by Wayne Ellis as Registrar and Treasurer, Brian Thompson as Volunteers organizer, Laurie Wilkie as Signage organizer, and with significant input from others such as Gayle Mabey, Lorne Proctor, Jennifer Lawley, Dan Graham and Honorary Club Member Al Hamilton.
With your continued support as golfers, sponsors, prize or auction item donors or tournament volunteers, we look forward to many more years of the most fun way of raising moneys for our Club, our community and our world.
