District Employment Partnership Update
Posted by Jerome Martin
The Partnership continues its success in generating meaningful jobs for people with developmental disabilities - Two more people have great part time jobs!
On March 25, 2010 Kevin began his job as Shop Hand at VETS Sheet Metal. His duties include keeping the shop clear of debris, organizing the tool crib, breaking down pallets and general shop duties. The Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona was instrumental in helping to secure this position. Thanks to Rotarians David Rayner and Eric Solash.
Meyers Norris Penny hired Alexandra on March 29, 2010 as a file clerk. Alexandra's duties include filing for a large national accounting firm. She has just completed her studies at Grant MacEwan University in the Office Administration Certificate Program and is thrilled to be working in the career of her choice. Thanks to Rotarian Wendy McDonald of the Edmonton Mayfield Rotary Club
Many other Rotarians are making an invaluable difference by helping people with developmental disabilities "get their foot in the door" of business and industry - to have a chance for real jobs. In turn many Rotarians are learning about the contribution people with developmental disabilities can make from improving the bottom line to increasing customer satisfaction. Many people with developmental disabilities look to the District 5370 Rotary Employment Partnership for employment.
