15 years ago, our Club hosted a Rotary Exchange Student from rural Australia by the name of Danielle Noud.
On October 19, 2005, Danielle (now Sullivan) joined the Rotary Club of Boyne-Tannum in Australia.
On October 19, 2005, Danielle (now Sullivan) joined the Rotary Club of Boyne-Tannum in Australia.
The Boyne-Tannum Club has 20 members, of which 6 are females, and this, according to Danielle is rather unusual and "progressive" in rural Australia. The club is located in Tannum Sands, Central Queensland. Danielle hopes to get the club involved in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, as that is very close to her heart.
Dani is very pleased to be a Rotarian, and notes that it is something she has wanted to do for a long time, and now feels that she will be in a position to give back to her community. She sends love and best wishes to her Rotary friends in Canada, and says:
"I have such wonderful memories of my year in Canada. Thank you all so very much for welcoming me into your homes and sharing your lives with me. I feel richer for having had the opportunity that was Rotary Youth Exchange. It is amazing how this experience continues to enrich my life. I think I can safely say that my experience in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was, for the most part, a success story. I look back and reminice often about my year in Canada ....Learning to ski in Jasper and the most amazing gourmet dinners with the Pardees / Conoeing through the badlands and Sunday family dinners with the Daniels / Maple Creek adventures, picking and eating fresh sun-kissed raspberries straight from the bush in the backyard with the Martins / Eating the best Alberta beef BBQ with the Thompsons / Thanksgiving at Windermere with the Turnbulls / Dressing up for my first Halloween, celebrating my first white Christmas - complete with making gengerbread men and decorating the tree - all with 3 younger sisters, Moon chasing and BBQs on a snowy deck in winter in the Kaminski home."
"Please pass on this news to the Rotary Club of Edmonton West. I am hoping that they would appreciate the feedback as to how positive the Youth Exchange Program is for all those who participate."
"I look forward to the future and am ready to explore the possibilities that Rotary will bring."
