The container for the village in South Africa is now full - and we mean full!  On Thursday, February 9th, members and friends of the Rotary Clubs of Edmonton Glenora and Edmonton West worked together from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm to load a 40 foot long container, and it has now started it's long journey.

The container is loaded with hospital beds, matresses, medical equipment, tables, desks, chairs, bicycles, sports equipment, garden tools, books, binders, pens & pencils, school blackboards, kitchen utensils, a huge oven, and many garbage bags full of wool, bedding and other fabrics.  These bags are very important, because they are used to fill all the voids between the larger items and to cushion the load from shifting during the many movements it will endure during it's long journey to South Africa.

The goods were inventoried as they were loaded by Past District Governor Larry Johnson, now President of the Humanitarian Aid Warehouse Society (HAWS).  It is estimated that there are roughly 12 tonnes of goods in the container.

Susan Green, a member of the Edmonton Glenora Club, will be leaving for Africa in early March, and expects to be on hand in the Village of Ndawana when the container gets unloaded.  She expects to stay there for six weeks, and we wish her good luck, and look forward to hearing about her adventures when she returns in late April.
