Edmonton West Rotarian Dr. Ben Doz will speak about the annual Guatemala Eye Care Mission which he has led each year for the past quarter-century. Dr. Ben will speak of the thousands of people the Mission has aided, many of whom would have been unable to access the vital health services delivered because of the remoteness of their homes and their lack of financial means. He will talk about past missions and the future of the project.

Ben will be joined by Dr Pierre-Charles Grettilat, an Edmonton family physician, who will speak about his first year of holding a family practice in Guatemala.

Jeanette Bancarz is the 2026–2027 Governor of Rotary District 5370, serving Northern Alberta, parts of British Columbia and Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon. She carries forward Rotary International President Yinka Babalola's message to Create Lasting Impact.

Raised in northern Alberta, Jeanette has built her life around service, leadership, and helping others reach their potential. She believes meaningful impact is created through strong relationships, continuous improvement, and community building.

Jeanette's professional journey spans leadership roles in both the financial services and aviation sectors. After a 26-year career with ATB Financial, culminating as a District Manager supporting 19 branches across northern Alberta, she became President of Centennial Flight Centre Inc. in 2022. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about developing people, building strong teams, and helping organizations thrive.

A Rotarian since 2008, Jeanette is a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield and a Past President of the Rotary Club of Fort McMurray. She has also served as an Assistant Governor and in numerous district leadership roles. A Major Donor and member of the PolioPlus Society, she is deeply committed to Rotary's mission and its ability to create lasting change.
Beyond Rotary, Jeanette has served on boards and committees at the local, provincial, and national levels. In 2016, following the Horse River wildfire, she was selected to chair the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee, helping guide community recovery efforts during one of Canada's largest natural disasters

Lee Harmon is a member of the Rotary Club of Arlington, a retired opthalmologist and an oustanding Rotary volunteer. For several years he has been raising funds for End Polio Now with driving challenges in his 1931 Model A Ford Victoria, which he calls "Miss Vicky". Rotarian Jackie Hobal has persuaded Lee to come to Edmonton to issue his latest challenge to Rotary Edmonton West.

President John will preside over the annual general meeting of the Club. The agenda of the meeting will include reports from the President and members of the executive and board, as well as the election of the Club's executive for the 2027-28 year and the President-Elect for the Club's 2028-29 year.
