I am happy to welcome 2 new members to our Rotary Club of Edmonton West Family. Firstly, Wayne Hobal has transferred his membership from Athabasca. Secondly, Duane Evans inducted Crystal Mills into the club today and will be her sponsor. After 37 years with Edmonton Public Schools as a classroom teacher, music specialist, consultant, human resources officer, assistant principal and principal, Crystal is now in retirement and look forward to opportunities for volunteering. She continue to assist in elementary classrooms and has also participated in the Summer Literacy Program in Placencia, Belize. She is the proud recipient of a Fellowship award from Rotary Edmonton West because of this work. Crystal has attended many of our meetings and has also volunteered with the Christmas Clothes for Kids program.
WE WELCOME YOU BOTH INTO OUR ROTARY FAMILY
What have we been up to?
Our members have been out and about in the community since our last meeting. We volunteered at the Food Bank......always one of our favorite things to do. Especially when we are joined by the Rotaract and Interact members.
Our trusty Daytimers have been hard at work again at Capital Care Grandview. Al and Duane were busy sanding and painting. Well done! If anyone would like to be included on the Daytimer email list talk to Al Sanderson.
On Saturday we had our Board Game Night.......we had so much fun!! Although Fred, Spencer and Duane forgot the 'Board' part of Game Night and watched the Hockey Game:))
Our enthusiastic Interactors spent time at a seniors lodge over the Remembrance Day long weekend serving coffee and tea. It looks like their club is growing in size!!
Rotary Around the World
Clive participated in this event on the weekend. Well done Clive!!!
At the meeting today Al Sanderson gave a great overview of the Foundation and how it is used in the Rotary Clubs. I have attached his presentation under Facts about the Foundation.
