New Member Sponsor Award: Darrel and Brad awarded our club's very first award of this new Rotary program to Ed Schultz as the sponsor of Duart Berg.  Ed received a blue pin award. The New Members Sponsor Recognition Program is an exciting new initiative approved by the Rotary International Board of Directors. It honours Rotary members who sponsor new members.  All Sponsors of members admitted to Rotary after 1 July 2013 are eligible to receive a specially designed membership pin and coloured pin backer from Rotary in recognition of their commitment to the organization's membership growth.

Happy Bucks: It has been a very 'happy" week with many of the club's members filling the coffers to tell everyone of some great happenings over the past few weeks, highlighted by Al Homes celebrating his birthday by flying a plane out of the Villenueve Airport, including both the take off and landing.  Congratulations Al!

50/50 Draw: Bill Buckham and Joe Lizotte were close, but left the $65 in the pot for next week's draw.

Main Presentation:  Club Executive Introductions, Reports and Plans

Marketing Committee: Ingrid/Darrel
Ingrid gave a quick overview of the Strategic and Marketing Plans for the club.
The goals of the Strategic Plan are:
- Promote Rotary through focused marketing
- Attract and engage membership
- Create a positive experience for all
- Enhance and develop projects
- Develop effective funding sources
- Every member contributes, participates, volunteers
The marketing plan originated from the strategic plan and was distributed to all members in November, 2013.

Club Administration: Duart
Roles include organization of all the meetings and related roles and information.  This year we have implemented the role of a greeter to help make all members comfortable and included in all meetings.  Another role of this position is tracking the history and archives of our club.

Membership: Brad
The goal of membership is to attract 10 new members this coming year as well as maintaining as many existing members as possible.  The target classifications will include active business people as well as recently retired.  We will be activating club mentors for all new members and will also be improving our membership kits that are distributed.

Club Services: Spencer
The main role of Club services is to increase and maintain club friendships, fellowship and camaraderie.  There are already several new club events planned and you can expect to see a few more to be announced in the coming months.  A quick e-mail blast system has been set up to help with communication and announcements will be made at every meeting.  The plan is to have a minimum of 1 event per month.

Communication: David Gibbens
It is the role of communications to meet many of the goals set out in the marketing plan.  First and foremost will be the renovation of the club's website to make it active, current, relevant and fun so that all members can rely on it as the go to place for club information.  We would also like to expand our social media presence.  We already have a Facebook page to get information out beyond our club.  It currently has at total reach of 285 people, with the majority of 'friends' coming from Cambodia.  And lastly, part of communication is visibility and we will work to have club clothing and pins more readily available to members and particularly 'volunteer' t-shirts for when we are working on our many projects.

Community Service: Sherry
It was good to see that community service ranked high on our club survey as to what we want to do as a club.  Current projects include: McCauley Rink, School Nutrition program, E4C, Sing for Life, Valour Place and of course our Grandview concerts.  We plan on fully supporting these worthy projects but will still look for new opportunities thoughout the year.

Youth Services: Mike
Our club is heavily invested in youth programs, but there is always room for more.  We currently support the 395 Air Cadets Squadron as well as the RYLE, RYLA and Rypen projects.  We could use a few more volunteers to assist in these programs.  We haven't had a Youth exchange project for a few years, so if anyone has some space in the city and would like to host an international youth, please contact Mike directly.  We also have a fledgling Rotaract club at Grant McEwen University and everyone should keep an eye out for their events and support them as much as we can.

Treasurer: Brian
Invoices for this years membership dues have been emailed out to 42 members.  The cost of these dues remains the same as last year.  Due to the fact that 50% of this money goes to the District and Rotary international, it is important that we receive this payment as soon as we can.

Club Secretary: Darrel
The club secretary is responsible for club administration and to support the President wherever possible.  We will be incorporating a few more district tools and overall direction to help develop our club over the next year.

Past President: Duane
First of all, thanks to all for the past year.  The official function of the Past President is to develop next year's board and it is never too early to begin this process so he is beginning right away.  This list is planned to be completed and delivered to the club by November for ratification.

President Elect: Fred
The main role is to learn as much as possible from this years board and carry that into next year.  It is also a new role to bring a 'Rotary Minute' to the club on a regular basis.  For this meeting, Fred brought the story of Rotary and several doctors in India who, by building a portable mammogram clinic, are providing breast cancer screening to thousands of women in India.

Ingrid adjourned the meeting with an inspiration closing message.
