Guest Speaker:  John introduced Jeff Polovick who started Driving Force in 1978 and was honoured, in 2013, as Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.  Jeff and the Driving Force are the main sponsor of the Al Hamilton & Friends Golf Tournament.  5 years ago Jeff joined the board of directors of Fort Edmonton Management Co..  He found that Rotary had been a large component of the group that initially started Fort Edmonton Park and he started a renewal project for Rotary in Fort Edmonton Park which includes the construction of the Windsor Block between the Capital Theatre and the Selkirk Hotel.  This would give the Selkirk Hotel a large addition to its convention space.  Jeff showed a video on the start of Fort Edmonton.  He then reiterated the call to all Edmonton based Rotary clubs to join  funding the project.  The Rotary District 5370 office would become a permanent tenant of the Selkirk Hotel development.

Zen, Doug MacDougall and Jeff Polovick were some of the speakers in the video.  Jeff advised that $390,000 has been pledged by Rotary of which $321,000 has been collected.  The Doctor Oz fund raiser brought in $160,000.  The project needs $3 million from Rotary.

The rejuvination of Fort Edmonton includes the Aboriginal Project @ $45 million; $20 million for  a midway; $12 million for the Windsor project.  The City of Edmonton will provide an official pledge, this fall, of $50 million.  Economic Development Edmonton is behind the total rebuilding scheme.

Jeff was thanked by Ed who advised that the convention facility will attract national based meetings.

John then thanked Al Hamilton for being the face of our golf tournament and being connected to the right people to bring in the fund raising dollars needed.
