Fort Edmonton Clean Up:  Rotary District 5370 has its annual program for clean up this historic park scheduled for May 9;  we need to let the District know how many people we will have attending, so please let Spencer know if you are attending - It is planned to run from 9am to 1pm and includes a free barbeque!

Belize District Conference: Duane announced that our partner club in Placencia, Belize will be hosting their District Conference in April, 2016.  This would be a great opportunity for our members who interests don't lie in the Summer reading or fall building projects that we currently have with with the Placencia club.  There will be many different volunteer opportunities such as shuttle drivers, registration desk, etc. If you are interested in this opportunity, contact Duane Evans for more information.

Eyes for Huehue:  There are already over 50 items for the silent auction and we expect to have around 100 by the actual date . Tickets are still available from Ben or Lorne for the silent auction and dinner on May 13 @ Chateau Louis; 6:15 p m; $65 each;  Guests are more than welcome to attend to help fund this wonderful Rotary program (This will be our Rotary meeting for the week of May 11, so there will be no Monday meeting that week)

New Generations:  Edmonton West has promised to participate in the Youth Exchange for next year, so we are looking for 4 host families to share in the year long exchange program.  If you are interested in this, Contact Leslie or Lorne for more information.

Fine Master: Dan Graham fined many in the room on questions regarding the Battle of Vimy Ridge due to the fact that the anniversary of this battle was over the weekend.  Dan also provided some personal notes regarding flying over Vimy Ridge in previous anniversaries.

50/50:  Darrel & Joe did not match cards  Therefore $182 was carried over until next meeting.

Guest Speaker / Classification Talk: Leslie Cleary

Leslie was born and raised in Saskatchewan and moved to Edmonton for work once she graduated.  Saskatchewan will always be "Home", but Edmonton is definitely her own family's home.  Leslie has one son who is convocating from NAIT this year and Leslie is so very proud of her boy.

Leslie was an Edmonton Public School Board Trustee, being elected in 2010, where she represented 27 public schools in the Millwoods area.  Public service seems to run in her family because when she was elected, she was told by her grandmother that she was so proud of her as the grandmother had run to be a trustee back in the 50's and almost won the seat (running against a man!) So times have changed and it was a proud moment in the family.

Volunteering has always been a major part on Leslie's life.  Her current volunteer activites include: Pet Therapy, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, her church council, her church folk group and most recently, the Edmonton Triathalon.

Joining Rotary therefore was a natural fit, with Mike Ryan being her sponsor and that she very much feels that she is "in the right place".

Her current vocation is working at Cleanscene as the "Fund Development Director". She received her University degree in 2010 with hopes of working more in the area of Charity fundraising and is now a member of the Edmonton Chapter of Fundraising Professionals.

Her current Role with the club is the Director of Youth Services which she feels is going to be a great fit as well.

Leslie was thanked by Duane Evans.

The meeting was adjourned by Darrel .
