Announcements/Club Business:
Edmonton West Rotary Club Annual Golf Event & BBQ - Spots are filling up quickly, please let Spencer or Annie know if you are golfing and/or coming to the BBQ as soon as you can so we can book extra tee times if required. Check here for more details.
Christmas party: Duane let everyone know that the date and location have been finalized for our Christmas Dinner and Celebration. It is December 17th at the Derrick Golf and Winter club. Check here for more details.
Boyle McCauley Water Bottle project: Anthony Lazaruk has been working on a personal project distributing water during this hot days to needy recipients. If you would like to assist Tony, or would like more information, please contact Tony directly.
Belize Literacy Project Update: Welcome Back Darrel Ripley who has just returned from a quick visit to Belize to take his daughter there to assist in our literacy project. Darrel gave an update on his trip, on attending the annual literacy kick off / team building day, and some tourist highlights. His take-away was that this is a wonderful place to visit and to be able to help the young people of that country even makes it more rewarding.
Al Hamilton & Friends Golf Classic: John Blimke reported that the annual golf tournament fund raiser is again sold out with 144 golfers attending. He attributed this to our Rotary volunteers who look after the golfers and make it such a fun event. The live and silent auctions look like they will have some great items, including and autographed picture of Wayne Gretzky handing up his skates after his final game, and possibly the first autographed Connor McDavid Jersey available in the city.
Brian Thompson reminded everyone of the volunteer committments and asked that everyone dress appropriately as the weather can always change quickly at this time of year. Please arrive ahead of time so that all positions are manned as the golfers arrive. If you have any question of positions or arrival times, please contact Brian Thompson directly.
Fine Master: Jim Spalding challenged all the tables in automobile trivia as he is an auto buff from way back..
50/50: Jim Johnston and Brian Thompson were lucky enough to have their tickets drawn, but not lucky enough to match playing cards and therefore the pot is being carried over until next week.
Rotary Moments: Tables were then asked to share favourite rotary moments and memories that had been discussed at the tables over lunch.
Duane Adjourned the meeting.
