Students at Vimy Ridge Academy are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence. Their stories merge both with the legends of the past, and with those of the future.  They create their own stories by engaging in the unique opportunity to hone skills in academics, athletics, performing arts, citizenship and leadership. They come from all backgrounds, from all over our region, and join the forces of over 1000 student athletes who are on a personal journey to a successful future. They may commit to one of the exceptional alternative programs, or they may be training as an elite athlete who requires a flexible school program that allows them to be successful as an athletic scholar. Students in Grades 7 - 12 choose programs in sports, dance, and outdoor pursuits, or they create a flexible schedule in the Elite Athlete program to accommodate training in swimming, diving, gymnastics, figure skating, wrestling, martial arts, or alpine skiing, just to name a few.

Vimy Ridge Academy offers an authentic community school atmosphere, with exceptional teachers to ensure each student receives personalized attention and supports needed to excel academically. Pathways beyond High School are forged through our working relationships with agencies who support and develop youth with goals in their future. Professional and certified coaches provide high-level competitive training in fully equipped facilities through the essential relationships with the Academic and Athletic Development Society of Edmonton (baseball, softball, hockey, lacrosse, sport fit, and outdoor pursuits) as well as the University of Alberta Green and Gold Soccer Academy. The Edmonton School of Ballet is another fundamental agency supporting the Dance program at Vimy Ridge Academy and is one of the most respected professional dance programs in Canada. Every student completes a full academic program balanced with daily physical training in their specific program of choice. Every student graduating from Vimy Ridge Academy is academically prepared for success in post-secondary course work.

Vimy Ridge Academy offers simply the best facilities in the capital region. Students have access to fully renovated classrooms and learning spaces, eight dance studios, two gymnasiums, a fitness centre, a competition sized climbing wall, four technology labs, a learning commons space, a cafeteria, and access to local recreational facilities.  In-house access to medical referrals and physiotherapy consults are accessible to students during the school day.  Vimy Ridge Academy offers students advantages that are both immediate and lifelong.  Become a Raider. Become an athletic scholar at Vimy Ridge Academy.

Rotary Edm West Luncheon Online Hybrid Meeting
May 16, 2022 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Please register today for our Club luncheon meeting to be held at the University Club on May 16, 2022 at 12 noon.

Rotarian Rob Dunseith has just returned from a three-week holiday in Ireland and will share his experience of travel in what is hopefully a late stage of the Covid pandemic. His travels took him to all four provinces of Ireland including spending some time in his family’s homeland of Northern Ireland. He and Elizabeth were present during the recent local elections in which the nationalist Sinn Fein party received the largest number of seats in the Northern Ireland Assembly. Rob argues that this represents a significant watershed in the peace process begun with the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, one of the best examples of peace building we have witnessed in the modern era.

Our club will have a special guest, Claudia Caluori, from Italy. She is a Rotarian and Rotary Peace Fellow and will share her experiences with us.

PARTICIPATION OPTIONS

In-person attendance will include lunch for $25 per person, payable in cash or by cheque at the door. Zoom attendance for those unable to attend in-person will be free. Masks are recommended inside the University Club when attendees are not seated for lunch. Those who plan to attend in person are asked to register by Thursday, May 12, 2022.

PARKING

Parking is available in Lot 5108, accessible off 116 Street, south of Saskatchewan Drive for $5.50 between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.  Remember your license plate number. You can pay for parking at the machines located at the southeast corner of the lot or in the lobby of the University Club or using the Honk Mobile App. Note that fines for illegal parking at the U of A are substantial.

Camping Trip
Sep 02, 2022 - Sep 05, 2022

Hello Campers,

Bryan Gouthro has very generously offered to host us at his property 20 mins from the Jasper Park gates. There is room for us all to pitch our tents and will also accomodate Al's trailer:)) There is a fire pit and we can use the washrooms. This is great as we can all be together and not spread out in different campsites.

There are lots of hikes to choose from depending on your comfort level....or maybe you just want to go into Jasper for some fudge! Bryan mentioned that he knows of a guide who would lead a hike if we desire.

Closer to the time we can all get together and meal plan.

This weekend will be a great opportunity for some fellowship and fun. Please sign up if you are interested.

Cheers,

Annie
