This is our most popular volunteer event. It is a great way to help the Food Bank. We will either be building hampers or sorting donated food: Hamper Makers complete the food hampers by adding additional perishable and non-perishable food to the “Starter Kit”. At this time, special attention is paid to dietary requests as well requests for special items such as toiletries or dish soap based on availability. The volume of hampers must be recorded and hampers must be accurately labelled for delivery to the client and/or food depot. In 2018, over 4 million kilograms of food was donated to or gleaned by Edmonton's Food Bank. Sorters are responsible for going through all non-perishable donations and checking the condition of the packaging and the best before dates. Once the food is checked, it is organized and stored appropriately to be brought to the hamper line or agency row. Date: Tuesday February 11 Let me know if you would like to volunteer. Cheers, Annie

Feb. 17, 2020 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
McCauley Revitilization is about building a great community by bringing people together – and the best way to do that is by offering activities that compel people to spend time sharing food, fun and friendship with their neighbours. McCauley Community Rink will be hosting their annual Family Day Skating Party on Monday February 17. There will be horse wagon rides, face painting, a bonfire, prizes, hot dogs, great music, and, of course, skating. Edmonton West Rotarians have been asked to help with this fabulous event by serving food and hot chocolate. Volunteers will be needed from 12:00 to 5:00 pm If you are able to volunteer for the afternoon, or part of the afternoon please sign up. In the comment box let me know the times you can be there. Our club is so very proud to support Al Hamilton and Sparky in the wonderful work they do for the McCauley Community. They are truly making a difference. Cheers, Annie |

Jun. 13, 2020 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
All Root for Trees events have been cancelled until further notice. I have registered our club for a Guided Planting Shift with Root for Trees!
Planting Date: Saturday, June 13 – 9:30 am to 12:00 pm Location: Sifton Ravine Directions: North of Hermitage Road between 40th and 50th Streets At this time, the landscape technicians do not know precisely where we will be planting, but will confirm the parking and access details closer to the shift. We plant outdoors, so please dress for the weather! Working in a natural area, it is possible that you may encounter thistles, sticks, or garbage. Consider dressing in layers, long pants, and a hat. Volunteers must wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, such as runners. Volunteers may not participate in planting activities if they wear inappropriate footwear, such as sandals, flip-flops, or high heel shoes.
Remember to bring a water bottle and snacks, as planting trees can be a very physical activity! I suggest you bring sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else that will make your volunteer shift an enjoyable experience. Root for Trees will supply the shovels, gloves, and plants.
A Program Leader will contact me at least four days prior to our volunteer shift to confirm details, meeting location and to answer any questions that we may have. Please let me know of any special concerns, severe allergies, or medical conditions to share with the Program Leader at that time. I want to ensure that everyone has a safe planting experience.
Thank you,
Cheers,
Annie

Ready for a tune-up????? The Rotary Club of Edmonton Riverview has received about 200 surplus wheelchairs and we need your help! Most are in good condition but a few need some nuts and bolts tightened and all could use a good cleaning. Many of these wheelchairs are destined to different charities that donate them to some very needy countries.
We need help cleaning, tuning up, palletizing, and general preparation to be sent away. Easy work. They are located at a warehouse at the Wetaskiwin airport. Plenty of room for social distancing.
DIRECTIONS: As you travel through Wetaskiwin on Hwy 2A less than an hour from Edmonton turn right(West),at 45 Avenue, (Ford Dealership). Follow the short windy road until you reach the airport district. Look for the only hanger with the brown roof on your left and you are there.
Refreshments and pizza provided, under strict covid hygienic conditions. Bring a friend! Please consider coming,
Many hands make light work. Bring cleaning rubber gloves, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, socket sets (if you have them)Any questions please call: Roman Bayrock 780 239 7214
