This is our most popular volunteer event. It is a great way to help the Food Bank. We will either be building hampers or sorting donated food: Hamper Makers complete the food hampers by adding additional perishable and non-perishable food to the “Starter Kit”. At this time, special attention is paid to dietary requests as well requests for special items such as toiletries or dish soap based on availability. The volume of hampers must be recorded and hampers must be accurately labelled for delivery to the client and/or food depot. In 2018, over 4 million kilograms of food was donated to or gleaned by Edmonton's Food Bank. Sorters are responsible for going through all non-perishable donations and checking the condition of the packaging and the best before dates. Once the food is checked, it is organized and stored appropriately to be brought to the hamper line or agency row. Date: Tuesday October 29 Let me know if you would like to volunteer. Cheers, Annie

Feb. 17, 2020 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
McCauley Revitilization is about building a great community by bringing people together – and the best way to do that is by offering activities that compel people to spend time sharing food, fun and friendship with their neighbours. McCauley Community Rink will be hosting their annual Family Day Skating Party on Monday February 17. There will be horse wagon rides, face painting, a bonfire, prizes, hot dogs, great music, and, of course, skating. Edmonton West Rotarians have been asked to help with this fabulous event by serving food and hot chocolate. Volunteers will be needed from 12:00 to 5:00 pm If you are able to volunteer for the afternoon, or part of the afternoon please sign up. In the comment box let me know the times you can be there. Our club is so very proud to support Al Hamilton and Sparky in the wonderful work they do for the McCauley Community. They are truly making a difference. Cheers, Annie |

Good morning Friends and Rotarians.
As many of you know our club is pitching in and helping organize a fundraising event for the Parkinson Association of Alberta. Parkinson Disease affects many of our family, friends, and fellow Rotarians. All the funds raised at this event remain here in the Edmonton Region.
This will be a tremendous gala event. The Main Event will take place on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Wayne Gretzky Ballroom in the new and super swanky JW Marriott in Ice District. So dust off your fancy clothes! Bring that special somebody and impress them!!!
Current WBC/WBA Featherweight World Champion and Founder of Champs Boxing Studio; Jelena Mrdjenovich, will cap the night off in style with what’s sure to be an inspiring keynote that will leave guests wanting more.
Be prepared for incredible silent auction experiences including exciting trips and one-of-a kind adventures.
There will be four amateur boxing bouts featuring some of Alberta's best Olympic prospects and national champions. If you've never watched Olympic style amateur boxing then this will be a must-see event for you. These are exceptional Alberta athletes and these contests will matter for them. All the bouts are sanctioned by and will be officiated by Boxing Alberta. These contests are fast paced and exciting.
Above all, this will be an opportunity for us to support a great cause. Parkinson Association of Alberta helps fund therapies for clients with Parkinson Disease and boxing training is excellent physical therapy. The Main Event will feature a number of clients and in the spotlight they will shine. Come out and support this worthy cause.
But, we need your help to make this a success. Please plan on attending the event and encourage your friends, family, clients, and business colleagues to buy their tickets and attend. When you're having that conversation, please be sure and show folks the awesome and inspirational YouTube video that has been produced to promote the event.
