You won't want to miss this!!. There are still spots available in the hostel. Last year, so many great memories were made. Hosteling is one of the most fun and memorable ways to spend some time in the outdoors. There's nothing quite like sitting around the campfire with an entire group of your friends. Making s’mores, telling stories, and having sing-a-longs are all made better with the presence of friends. Our club has reserved 22 spots at the Rampart Creek Hostel in Banff National Park. It's located half way between Jasper and Banff. You are able to drive to and park at this hostel and then explore the many beautiful hikes and walks from there. The Rampart Creek Wilderness Hostel’s facilities include a common room, self-catering kitchen, Internet access, bicycle storage and sauna to relax in after a day in the mountains. There is also a fire pit we can gather around in the evenings. Each cabin sleeps 6 people in bunks with lots of storage space, solar-powered lights and a heater to keep things cozy. Available in mixed-gender rooms only. Outhouse facilities are nearby. The cost will be around $65 a night per person. A more accurate price will be determined as soon as possible. Sign up as soon as you can:) Cheers, Annie

Annie Lisa won't be participating in the walk so you are welcome to come even if you aren't going on the walk. If you would like to add yourself to the list let me know. Lisa is serving beef on a bun...yum! Please bring something to share with everyone. Either a salad, appetizer or dessert. There will be soft drinks available, but if you prefer something stronger....BYOB. Although Jason and Lisa have chairs it might be a good idea to bring one along. How better to get to know your fellow Rotarians than to join us on our annual walk and talk. We will have two groups to choose from.......the Walkie Talkies and the Skywalkers. Everyone will meet at Jason and Lisa's home, 96 Wahstao Cresent, Edmonton AB T5T 2W8 at 3 pm. You can choose which walk you would like to take. The Walkie Talkies This is a loop walk into the ravine and will take about 45 mins to an hour. The terrain is flat. The Sykwalkers This is also a loop walk of about 5 km and the terrain is more moderate.
Afterwards Jason and Lisa have graciously offered to host our pot luck BBQ at their home. The food arrangements can be sorted out closer to the date. This annual event is always so much fun and a great way to spend time with friends. So lace up your walking shoes and sign up! Cheers, Annie

Nov. 22, 2018 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The following people have signed up for our evening at Wellspring: Annie, Spencer, Sherman, Bev, Ingrid, Ross, Jason, Lisa, Ken, Nicole and Aaron. If you would like to join us please let me know. There is room for lots more!! Our club is a proud sponsor of Wellspring Edmonton. They are a community-based support centre offering non-medical supportive programs and services that meet the emotional, social, practical and restorative needs of people living with cancer and those who care for them. All programs, services & resources are offered free of charge and without a referral. I have arranged for us to spend an evening at their facility where we can enjoy light refreshments, learn more about their programs, and have a tour. We will also have an opportunity to paint a 'touchstone'. Beautiful river stones are painted with a word or image sending messages of hope and encouragement to self and to others. Wellspring Edmonton and the Cross Cancer Institute Patient and Family Resource Center have collaborated on an installation of panels in their Healing Garden. Some of these touchstones will be shared with patients at the Cross Cancer Institute as well as our Wellspring Edmonton members. The evening will be open to all members, family and friends. Please join us for a lovely evening. Cheers, Annie |
